Humans need the earth & not vice versa.

I was reading a book which inspired me to think of myself as part of a greater ecosystem on this earth and not as a independent species.

I was looking at this huge mango tree and imagining how it inhales what I exhale and i inhale what it exhales. Suddenly i felt how we are so interconnected with our surroundings and the earth. It made me realise how integral nature is for the human survival. It made me think how everything around us is so well planned by nature for it to accommodate us as a species and not vice vesra.

Busy with our daily lives do we realise that we survive only because of nature. Do we realise we dont have to put much effort to survive since most of the things that we need to live our provided to us by nature and are free. We dont have to pay for the oxygen that we breathe, the sunlight that's so essential for our growth, the water from the lakes/rivers dont ask us to pay, the soil does not ask us for any money before it turns any seed to a plant or a tree.

The human species does not want to acknowledge, that we eat what is grown from the soil but we want to cover it with concrete destroying all the plant life, we are free from diseases cause of the sunlight but we use sunblocks and dark glasses when we go out in the sun, our body is sixty seven percent water but we are polluting it and wasting it everyday, every minute, every second.

Why are we not taught about the importance of nature at our schools or at home. Why do we not give this the most importance in our daily lives. Why cant we spare time for our own sake and grow more trees. Why do we take all these gifts for granted. The most important question we need to ask here is "Are we destroying nature or ourselves ?" "Do we really feel what we are doing, will aid to a better life ?". "Can we imagine living without oxygen, water and food ?".

I think it's time we leave everything else and first teach ourselves and our children the importance of nature and how we require it more than anything else.

Still waiting for the magic ?

We as a human kind are always intrigued with magic. We love to see it and get mesmerized, specially something that is almost impossible to us. Children's and adults both are equally excited to see the tricks alike. But we tend to ignore the magic happening around us every moment, everyday of our lives.

Have you ever thought about the sun, the moon and the stars. The various phenomena that occurs in the sea due to the moon. How the plants make their food from the sunlight and get their water from the earth. How the earth moves around its own axis and we get the perfect days and nights. The different seasons around the world. The scent of the earth during the first rains after the summer. The scintillating light and scorching heat during the summer. The beautiful autumn and winter season. Why dont we see the magic thats happening around us all the time or willing ignore.

The seed that gets transformed from a few millimetres into a tree thats almost sky high. The beautiful flowers and their fragrances that are beyond the imagination of the human mind. Different colours and shapes of the flowers and leaves as if someone designed them. The various variety of fruits, right from the big and ugly yet sweet and fragrant jackfruit. To the fruit like the mango, that is available to us in different shades of yellow, orange, red and green. The sweetness of a chikoo that's almost as if dipped in sugar and the different varieties of grapes, the pineapple, the papaya, the strawberries, the lichee and countless others.

The different topography on earth the mountain ranges, the water bodies, the lakes, the rivers etc. The depth of the sea and a different world that it is, with all the different species of animals and plants. The sea is a different planet altogether with all the plant and animal life being under water. The variety of plants and animals are so well adapted to the sea life that they are completely different from the life on land. Some sea animals can breathe and live inside and outside of water too, like the crocodiles, turtles etc. I am intrigued by this magical world all the time. I am amazed to see the point where the rivers meet the sea. A place where u can see for yourself how you have salty sea water and the sweet river water embracing each other but still holding their individuality.

I am sure you might have seen the perfectly stripped tigers & zebras, the dotted cheetahs, as though some artist has carefully painted them. The Lions with a perfect maine as if trimmed to perfection. The huge but docile elephants, insanely tall but handsome giraffes. The deadly but beautiful sharks, powerful but not so dangerous whales. The peacock with various colours but not looking gaudy instead looking beautiful. The ostrich, the hornbill, the cuckoo, the wood peckers, the eagle, the owl, the bat. Are these not magic ?

And the biggest magic of all are "we humans". Apart from the creator thats created this universe we are the only species that are capable of creating and we did hell of a job.  But that is a topic for some other blog. But don't we see the magic every moment, every second. I think a life time is not enough if we start getting amazed at the world we live in. Incase we start appreciating each and everything we see around us every second, we ll be done praising the creator only for a fraction  of things during the whole of our lives. So let's start doing it now ... ;).
